The first part that i am gonna build of my recent delivery is going to be the simplest (hopefully that equates to simple ) The JimStimX is the part of the kit which will help me test and faultfinding on the Megasquirt3 Expansion board. Hopefully there will be lots of testing, and very little fault finding
The JimStim X comes packaged up very neatly, fully labelled, complete with all parts required to get it running.
It consists of a single board, a few DIP switches, some potentiometers and shiney lights it looks like this when spread out on my desk.
First thing to do is install all the resistors onto the PCB. now issues with putting the wrong value resister in the wrong hole as all the resistor values are the same, and the PCB is printed up with all the locations of the components. With the resistors added it looks a little like this,
Then you move onto the LEDs, these do have a polarity, so you need to make sure they are the right way around, but again their location is printed onto the board, so taking your time you should be fine it then looks a little like this,
Getting close now only a few more components to go, the next one is the DIP switches in the top left corner,
Followed by the header pins
And then the potentiometers
So now it is looking like good, but there is one component left, the DB37 connector which is used to connect it to the Megasquirt 3 Expansion card (could be tricky without it) this goes on the other side of the board.
Et Voila, one completed JimStimX
