There is a man you call on when you need quality preloved mx5 parts at a good price, his name is Junkyard Dog and he runs an MX5 breaking yard in Shardlow. I needed a mk2 Speedo drive to give me a better source for my HUD and new clocks, a few electrical connectors and Tye needed some mk2 topmounts.
While I was there and chatting to John (junkyards real name) he pointed out a few places I can improve my engine bay. Like moving my wiper motor to the scuttle (i hadn’t even thought about relocating that yet) and came up with a few methods of moving my brake servo and master cylinders by mounting them passenger side below the dash and using bell cranks to actuate them. So this all reignited my desire to empty my engine bay, and with the forthcoming engine, subframe and MS wiring work, now is the time to do it!
When I got home I restarted my research work on the master cylinder move. After a lot of reading I have decided that the quickest, easiest way to do this is to remove the brake servo and run a dual master cylinder set up with balance bar, and one of these pedal boxes from opbltd.com will sort it all out in one go, complete with clutch master cylinder. Now I just have to work out the best box to fit… Time for tape measures and cardboard templates….
